Canceled – CABI 2020 Spring Conference – Wednesday, March 18, 2020

– Event Canceled –

After careful consideration, the CABI Board has decided to cancel the 2020 Spring Conference set for Wednesday, March 18th. Obviously, this is because of health concerns related to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

We are extremely disappointed to have to cancel. We feel that we are acting in the interest and well being of everyone. To say that this outcome was not reached lightly is an understatement. Rather, we weighed all options and came to this conclusion only after reading numerous recommendations of health officials, viewing what is happening locally and around the country, and brainstorming creatively about what alternative arrangements we could make at the last minute. No matter what option we were trying to make work, nothing could be made to work well enough.

Everyone who has registered for the conference will receive a full refund from PayPal in the next several days. We will also honor our commitments to outside vendors who have already worked with us on this. This will result in financial losses for CABI and for some of them.

We are not going to reschedule another conference as long as COVID-19 is spreading. But, the Board will meet again on Wednesday, May 13th to reassess the situation at that time. Any CABI member is welcome to attend that Board meeting. Just let us know you’re coming, so we have enough room to include you at the table. We welcome your ideas.

In every case, when bad things happen, the best course of action is a hopeful plan to go forward. We all need to work toward plans like that for CABI, for our practices and for ourselves.

CABI is still strong after twenty years because it creates a place to sit down personally and even privately with our peers. We often openly share information with each other that is quite helpful. It’s personal and often one-on-one. You can’t replace that with webinars and broadcast material. It’s valued by every long-term CABI member. That kind of communication is particularly important in bad times.

We wish each of you well as you move forward in this uncertain environment.

Sincerely,
Glen Cooper, CABI President
