article_06_300-225The Colorado Association of Business Intermediaries (CABI) is the only trade association in Colorado dedicated exclusively to the Business Brokerage industry. Our Broker Members are Licensed Colorado Real Estate Brokers who help buyers and sellers of owner-operated and professionally managed businesses, which comprise Main Street Business Brokerage and Lower Middle Market transactions. Business brokerage brings together a special combination of skills including valuation, marketing, negotiation, contracts, accounting, financing, exit planning, financial planning and business coaching.

The following guidelines may help increase your chances that your article is accepted for publication:

  • Articles submitted for consideration should be of interest to CABI’s membership, have a tone that is appropriate for CABI, and be written by a person, not a PR department. We like articles that introduce new ideas and advance conversation around topics and trends that engage our readers. We appreciate lively, polished writing that balances research or news with fun and memorable anecdotes or examples that help illustrate your point of view.
  • While we encourage drawing from your own experiences in business to support your ideas, we discourage self promotion of yourself, or your company. However, we are happy to include your contact information and a link back to your website.
  • Typically, contributed articles are 500-700 words or less.
  • CABI requires a non-exclusive right to publish the article. The author may publish the article in other venues or media.
  • CABI prefers submissions from contributors who are leaders in and knowledgeable about the business brokerage industry or related topics, such as legal issues for business sales, tax consequences of a sale, financing a transaction, and exit strategies. Fresh ideas touching on the intersection of technology, marketing, social media and business brokerage also do well.
  • To get an idea of the types of pieces CABI wants to publish, visit our Blog.
  • Please submit articles for CABI below. Our editorial committee will let you know shortly about the status of your submission. If you feel your submission has not been received, please email us at info@coloradobusinesses.com.
  • Format. Articles may be submitted in any electronic format, including Microsoft Word, PDF, HTML and plain text.
  • You may submit images, charts and/or tables along with your article. There are no format, size or resolution requirements. CABI will edit your collateral material to fit with the article. If you would like to use a video as part of your article, please post it on YouTube.com or a similar service that will give us permission to embed the video on our website.
  • Authors may submit their bios along with their submission. Please submit about 100 to 150 words for each author including details: name, company, email address, and web page, if any. The bios should not be part of the article; CABI will attribute the article to the author.
  • The author is responsible for obtaining permission to use any copyrighted material. When specific persons are mentioned in the article (beyond cited references), or institutions named, permission from the individual or in the case of an institution, the administrator, must be obtained in writing before publication. If special stipulations are mentioned by either the individual or administrator, they must be followed.
